Comeback at the Springfield Little Theatre
Mark your calendar! “Hello, Dolly” is set to make a winning return to Missouri at the Springfield Little Theatre. With a trophy cabinet that features 14 Tony Awards, you cannot afford to miss the Broadway hit musical. The performances are from February 20th to 22nd at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $20 to $32.
The musical follows the humorous yet romantic exploits of Dolly Gallagher-Levi (currently played by Kim Crosby). It has a 19th Century vibe, from the corny-yet-cute comedy, toe-tapping dances, and tuneful songs. Since its original opening on Broadway (back in 1964), “Hello, Dolly” somehow manages to maintain the same high level of appeal – thanks to several regional productions (including high school productions) and a couple of Broadway revivals.
Crosby takes the bull by the horns by showcasing her acting prowess as a fully-rounded character – thanks to her expert timing, comic flair, subtle phrasing, lyrical singing, and sincere pleas. Other thrilling stars to the lead role of Dolly include Bernadette Peters, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, and Carol Channing.
